It´s Christmas time!

 

The last week of this term has been packed with Christmas activities that have made us have a great time. We would like to thank all the families, teachers and students who have collaborated with the Christmas bake sale to help us raise money for the school trips planned for the second term, and also to all who took part in the jumper contest, you are the best! We had the chance to admire amazing designs, congrats to the winners! 😊

La última semana del trimestre ha estado repleta de actividades navideñas que nos han hecho pasar momentos estupendos. Queremos agradecer a toda la comunidad educativa del @iestéllez que ha colaborado con la venta de dulces navideños para ayudarnos a recaudar dinero para las excursiones previstas en el segundo trimestre y que ha participado en nuestro tradicional concurso de jerseys, ¡sois los mejores!

ESO2 Chemistry end- of- term projects

 #ESO2 students present their end-of-term projects in #chemistry with Ms Mateos and Ms Muñoz. In their presentations each student had to explain in detail how to carry out their assigned experiments such as homemade lava lamps, tsunami on a dish, a sublimation process, vinegar and baking soda bombs, ice melting and cleaning water with kitchen roll paper. What great examples of procedural texts!! Well done students!!! Your chemistry presentations clearly got a very positive reaction( excuse the pun hehehe)

International Mountain Day

 

With the popularity of coastlines for tourism purposes and the urgent need for ocean conservation, mountains are somehow forgotten. That's why the UN decided to observe International Mountain Day, to promote the importance of mountains to life, and to acknowledge the fragility of their ecosystem.

Far from being a mere pretty sight, mountains cover 26% of the planet's land.

They are a habitat for biodiversity: plants, animals, and 1 billion humans. More than that, mountains supply fresh water to lower lands, improve air quality, provide food and renewable energy with wind turbines placed on mountains top.

Con la popularidad de las costas con fines turísticos y la urgente necesidad de conservar los océanos, las montañas quedan en cierto modo olvidadas. Por eso la ONU decidió celebrar el Día Internacional de las Montañas, para promover su importancia para la vida y reconocer la fragilidad de su ecosistema.
Lejos de ser una mera visión bonita, las montañas cubren el 26% de la tierra del planeta.
Son el hábitat de la biodiversidad: plantas, animales y ocho mil millones de seres humanos. Más que eso, las montañas suministran agua dulce a las tierras más bajas, mejoran la calidad del aire, proporcionan alimentos y energía renovable con turbinas eólicas colocadas en la cima de las montañas.

 These past few weeks our #ESO2 students have been keeping busy working on their Al-Andalus newspaper front covers in #socialscience #History class. They’re coming out really nicely so far!!! We can’t wait to see them!!

En estas últimas semanas nuestr@s alumn@s de #ESO2 han estado creando portadas de periódicos de la época de Al-Andalus en clase de #socialscience y los resultados por ahora son 🔝. Tenemos muchas ganas de verlas todas.

Training session for BEP teachers

Today we attended the last of a series of three webinars addressed to secondary school teachers. We learnt about new ways of encouraging speaking, giving feedback, supporting and assessing students. We can’t wait to develop and put them into practice !! 

Hoy hemos asistido al último de una serie de tres seminarios web dirigidos a profesores de secundaria. Hemos aprendido nuevas formas de fomentar la expresión oral, dar feedback, apoyar y evaluar a los alumnos. ¡Estamos impacientes por desarrollarlas y ponerlas en práctica!
